At Exeltek we believe in responsible business practice. One of our goal is to be the most environmental friendly online merchant by 2008.
As part of our business process, we are committed to:
- Paper savings by limiting use of paper
- Energy savings by limiting our airconditioner / heater use in the office
- Collecting used mobile phones for recycling through "Mobile Musters" program.
- Using the environmentally friendly packaging materials when shipping out parcels to you.
We are proud to introduce a change in material that we use to pack our products and ship it out to you.
Exeltek now uses a First 100% LDPE degradable bubble wrap from Sancell.
You can now safely throw away our bubble wrap packaging into your household rubbish bin without fear of polluting our environment.
Sancell’s innovative EnviroBubble is the worlds first totally degradable bubble wrap incorporates EPI’s TDPA (Totally Degradable Plastic Additives) (visit http://www.epi-global.com for more information). The introduction of EnviroBubble has revolutionised the way we think about the use and disposal of plastic products.
Since its release in May 2005, Sancell’s EnviroBubble product has become an industry leader in degradable plastic void fill strengthening its reputation as the most effective, versatile, cost effective and environmentally friendly product available today.
EnviroBubble has a controlled shelf life of a minimum of 12 months as the TDPA additives are added at a controlled rate to monitor and control the useable life of the product and allowing the bags to degrade at a specific rate.
Before its release in May 2005, all the necessary steps were taken to ensure superior quality of this environmentally innovative bubble wrap product.
This photograph illustrates the remarkable difference between a control sample without TDPA and EnviroBubble that was independently tested over 12 weeks exposure in a simulated environment.
How does EnviroBubble work?
Step 1 – TDPA (Totally degradable plastic additives) are blended into the resins during production.
Step 2 – Mechanisms that trigger this process of oxidative degradation are heat input and sunlight (UV light).
Step 3 – These products will break down in the presence of moisture, micro-organisms, oxygen and soil.
Additive is at a controlled level and at a rate where we can control the useable life of the product.
Why use EnviroBubble?
So why use degradable bubble wrap? The answer is simple. In excess of 95% of bubble wrap ends up in landfill.
